Ralph Tregannon is the Overlord of the Lammas Lands. He is drawn to Simon Hartstongue for personal reasons, but also hopes to use his mind-talents to widen his power-base. He is first and foremost a soldier, and was born under the sign of the Fox. He sets great store by his aristocratic lineage.
When Ralph falls under the influence of the Mind Executioner, the scene is set for betrayal, violence and revenge. But does Ralph understand the price he must pay for power?
